Hello again everyone!! I got back from Kansas City yesterday!! And I have to tell you that I had soooo much fun and I have sooo much to say!! Well when we first got into town my mom and I went to see her sister Suzie. Her truck had broken down so we helped her get it running again (I tried starting it when she told me too hehe). After we did that and picked her up from work as well, my mom showed her that scary picture of her and my dad together from Tiff's baby shower. My mom made up this whole story about how this man named "Bernard" came to our door one day and said that he was a member of our family. Then she asked my Aunt Suzie if she recognized him. My Aunt freaked out she said that it was just scary that a man would come to our door saying stuff like that. When my mom finally told Suzie that it was just a joke and the picture was a fake then she got really REALLY mad. But she wasn't very mad for very long. While this was going on i was playing with the cats, Bootsie and Jacob (Jacob only has three legs and one eye he can see out of because his old owner shot of one of his front legs and poured poison into one eye), trying sooo hard not to laugh.
After visiting my Aunt Suzie we went to visit my Uncle Leo. We got there and Uncle Leo was cleaning. My mom and him are almost exactly alike when it comes to cleaning. But we talked to him for a while and my cousin Racheal who pierced her own lip three times. When my mom tried to play the same trick with the picture on my uncle he just looked at the picture and said, "Well, whoever it is, they have your nose and your neck. Are you sure that's not just you with a toupee??" We all started laughing and my mom told him the truth about the picture which led to my uncle calling her a fruit loop. Finally we said our goodbyes and moved on to our next destination: The Harrisonville Church of Christ.
We stopped and got food at a local Sonic restaurant before getting on the highway. My mom didn't eat much because she said that she was too nervous about getting to the church. We headed down the hightway following the directions that we printed off of Yahoo! and we were doing just fine. Until we hit the part where we were supposed to head down the Grandview exit. There was tons and tons of road work going on which cut off the two lanes heading for Grandview. (I had seen a detour sign and was trying to tell my mom about it but...) my mom totally freaked out and went thru some cones onto another lane of the highway and off to an exit towards Wichita. She started panicking and I had to clam her down and tell her to turn around at the next exit. So we did and we got back on the highway where we were supposed to be and it all worked out. We got to Harrisonville and got lost about three more times because of Commercial St. We didn't know that North Commercial St. would eventually turn into South Commercial St. But we finally made it to the church and fifteen minutes before church started.
It was a very good church service (Nate Bibbins and Eric Cox spoke) and we didn't get lost on the way back to my Great Aunt Susan's house.
When we got to my Great Aunt Susan's house we visited for a while and laughed and caught up. We also met Aunt Susan's friends daughters husband, Nathan. Who was very nice. Then, since we were extremely exhausted, we went to sleep.
The next day, which was Sunday, we went back to church at Harrisonville, and there was another great church service. Afterwards, we headed back to Aunt Susan's to eat lunch. I had Taco Bell because I don't like ham very much. (oh, every time me and my mom come to visit Aunt Susan, she bakes a ham for us!) We just visited for a few more hours until it was time to get ready and head to the theater!!!! I wore the same dress that I wore for my La Traviata performance and my mom wore the dress that she wanted me to wear for my La Traviata performance. Then we left and headed for the theater which took about 30 minutes.
When we finally got there we took a mini tour of the theater and then went straight to our seats.......in the directors box!!!! It was soo nice and fancy!! heehe Our waiter, Amein, served us our salads right away. My mom and I got coffee, which was absolutely the best coffee I have ever had!! And my Aunt Susan had Diet Cherry Coke..with real cherry..not the stuff you buy at the store. The salad was amazing!! And after we had eaten our salad we went to the buffet and got our meals. There was so much food to choose from!! So I got a little bit of everything....except the asparagus. I had grilled chicken, pasta primavera, garlic mashed potatoes, steak, fried fish, a rye hard roll, and....I think that's it. It was sooooo good. After we had finished our meals, my Aunt Susan, my mom and I were a little squished in the directors box which was only meant for two. So, since my Aunt worked there, (btw, she works for the owners of the theater, she's kind of like a secretary but she does whatever they want her to do for them.) we kind of got anything we wanted. So my Aunt had us moved down to the sixth row, and we were RIGHT THERE!! We had such good seats and such a good view of the people and what was going on on stage!!
When the play finally started I had no idea what to expect. But the singing started (Tradition!!!) and I was so amazed. I loved the acting and the singing and the whole musical all together!! It was soo good! I can't believe I have never seen the whole movie before! And I was informed that my mom and I are going back next year to see Oklahoma!! I'm so excited!! Oh, during intermission, we got our dessert. I had the Chocolate Cobbler which was just a brownie with french vanilla ice cream on top and roasted almonds too. And my mom had creme broule...or however you spell it. And it was very good too.
When we left the theater I was kind of sad because it was over and the whole experience was so amazing that I didn't want it to end. But we are going back next year!! When we got home me and my mom went right to sleep again.
The next morning we said goodbye to Aunt Susan and went to my Great Uncle Denny's and my Great Aunt Pat's house. There were sooo happy to see us, and I missed them so much. My Uncle Denny is now legally blind because of his diabetes and it's very sad. While we were there we visited with them and there dog Sugar. I also got to hold their farret, Pepper, their snake (I forgot his name) and their bird, Biddie. They love animals. My mom tried to pull the picture prank on my Aunt Pat too, and she was so serious when she said that we should have called the police. Haha!!
Then we finally got on the highway to leave town after saying all of our goodbyes. And we had lunch/dinner at Hi Boy, which I never recomend doing. And we headed home.
It's nice to be home, but I do miss everyone. Oh, and we got a rediculous letter in the mail from our neighbors about how we "misstreat" our dog by leaving it chained up during the night. We bring her in every morning. It was very frustrating. Anyway, that was our trip! And I had so much fun!!
